I hope they don't put the new pump in, until they've sorted the metal flake problem!

Bloody hell mate. Gutted it’s turned into such an expensive repair. I take it that it ran when using the terraclean system as a slave?

New pump they are refusing to fit as injectors are full of swarf. Two of them are tps brand new s type. If I pull it out of the yard as it is to scrap it its 595 quid. What would you do if it was yours?

Is the swarf from the hpfp? If it is, surely the engine and injectors can be cleaned out and new pump fitted?
I’m not a mechanic by the way. As for weather you should keep it. Depends what you’ve spent versus what it may cost versus what you’d get back. Maybe a new engine might be more cost effective than scrap or repair?

You’ve put a bit of work into that van, colour coding, wheels etc.
Maybe sell to someone who does projects also?

Bloody Nora, I wouldn't know mate.
It depends on how much you've payed out so far and how much a new vehicle, for work use, will cost?
Also depends where the swarf has made it's way to........?

If the rest of the van is sound, it could be worth a second hand engine, or re build!

Ive sent the injectors off for testing cleaning. 20per each. If they can clean the metal out of them get it running and new hpfp then happy days.

It's shocking that garages can charge you for an expensive part that wasn't even needed!

At least you are on the right track to getting it sorted.

Here's hoping you're back on the road soon.

What does Hpfp stand for? How can the garage charge for a wrongly diagnosed part? I'm a maintenance engineer. If I fit a part to a machine and it doesn't fix it, I take it back off, I can't charge the customer for it! I think safe to say don't be in a hurry to return to them if they do sort it eventually

Bloody hell, this sounds bit dodgy to me. Clearly they have no ability/knowledge to diagnose the fault. And now metal flakes in the fuel system... wouldn't surprise me if somebody cocked up something.

P0601 ecu checksum error fault. That's what I read with vcds. My in van code reader wouldn't even work in obd port when it spluttered to a stop. code now gone after replacing ecu and programmed in. That's why I sent it to the garage as it was beyond my capability I thought. It felt like I was running out of fuel when it died.
