Where do we start, after falling victim to COVID unemployment, my beloved Golf GTD had to go, but as I can’t leave any mode of transport I own standard, I had to find something I still liked & could still get my modifying fix with.

So the hunt started for a caddy, my only real stipulation was it must have AC, after a brief search I found this Highline.

It’s done a few miles (131k) but overall it’s in good order, although does require some paintwork to bumpers & the bonnet.

As soon as I got it home I was on eBay putting plenty of items in my watch list.

1 - LED DRL’s
2 - LED number plate bulbs
3 - Cupholder insert
4 - Glove box lid
5 - Brodit phone mount

Plenty of other plans in the pipeline,
Wheels,
Suspension,
Stage 1 map &
A full paint correction & ceramic coating.

A small update & some small parts fitted.

Cup holder insert & Glove box cover.

Definitely makes a difference, holds a can perfectly.

Makes the dash look complete & more car derived.

Finally have my P/Plate on & fitted LED bulbs, had the LED units previously fitted but they kept throwing up errors, fingers crossed the bulbs work without errors.

Original candle bulbs.

A 50/50 & can see the difference.

So much brighter.

Was fed up with getting arm ache so purchased a cheap arm rest off eBay & for the price it a box ticker. Image

Fitted into the rear cup holders that are never used, sturdy enough although it does highlight that it looks like centre console is a little loose.

Nice work. How did you get on with your number plate LED bulbs.. are they error free now? I haven’t managed to find any that aren’t yet!

Nah still throwing up errors, but on closer inspection there is some corrosion on the terminals inside, so trying to locate a replacement plinth, so hopefully that will cure it.

Driving home last night & got the dreaded flashing EML & limp mode, a quick scan using Carista showed the following

Back to the dealer she goes for it to be sorted as it’s in warranty.

Yea that’s what I’ve seen & what the guy at the dealer said. At least I’m not footing the repair bill.

Changed my DRL’s from the factory position to now using front fogs & also changed the light percentage, all done using Carista.

Personally the dimmer the rear number plate lights are the better for me, on my old impreza I even put infra red leds in as well as the standard lamps so it looked legit but photos of it just had a highly reflective unreadable plate lol.

Well as with all projects there’s always those times when you have to go backwards before you get to the end goal.

Today I removed the ghastly ally chequered plate bumper protector, it wasn’t fitted right at 1 end so rubbed on the bottom of the door when opened, closed & has bugged me since the day I picked it up.

Yes I know it looks horrible, god knows what they used to stick it down with, as you can see whatever it was has taken the paint off with it.

Looks like no nails guess they didn’t want it to come off.

Thanks
