Thanks guys

3rdleg who did you used to work for?

MWM racing yeah I’ve had this build on my mind for a while but need to make sure I don’t get too carried away as it’s a work van not a show car

Should see some paint tomorrow

@dub_crazee

GPC.
Done quite alot of bits for Mk1 Mk2 Golf Corrado etc amongst other newer VWs. There was a mechanic/engineer called Fluff next door as well.

Dunno if that rings any bells?

I never ventured that end of Offley (think it was cut off down school lane before the Jewish school?) so didn’t know anyone down there.

Today saw the van get some Basecoat! Roof in the morning then the whole thing gets lacquered. Also picked up the dash and roof lining / shelf etc from
lavish after being trimmed! Starting to take shape now Image

Yeah down School lane toward Hexton Rd. This is going back a bit, haven’t been over that way for 10+ yrs.

Anyway liking the colour, look forward to seeing some shine on that bad boy 8)

To the world of caddy’s! I’m pretty new here too although I had a Caddy about 7 years ago.

3rdLeg I’ve only been in Offley 6 years so explains why!

Here are some shiny pics

That's a fantastic looking colour. I actually saw a Vauxhall or Renault maybe of a similar colour and thought "That'd look nice on a Caddy". Looking forward to seeing where you go with this!

Another good day! Dash back in (trims just loosely in place as I have Life trims to fit and a few other tricks to wire in). Headliner and shelf back in. Few other bits fitted up and panels painted today

What do you estimate the cost of labour on a job like this? Wondering if it's worth getting a conversion done on a cheaper barn door model rather than trying to find tailgate model.

It kinda depends on how fussy you are with the paint. Strictly speaking both sides should be blended which obviously creates a load more work. If a colour match can be done and it’s close enough that you’re happy to live with it then you can just paint the tailgate. I’d expect somewhere around £1500+VAT labour plus all the parts
