Have any tips for the prep? I used a couple of different grits of sandpaper (80, 100, 120) and I know there’s still a few lumps and bumps. Would especially appreciate tips for getting in the harder to get bits in the deeper down areas

Try different size wire wheels on a drill/grinder (protect your eyes!)

Get the tyres properly masked up and protected with tape/newspaper etc after prep, before primer/paint

If you’re using gloss black that’ll highlight imperfections more than satin/matt

Plenty of how to’s on YouTube

Got round to fitting the curtains last night, hopefully keep everything nice and dark in the back!

And then spent this afternoon cutting and sticking. Put a few of the bits in a rough form of what the aim is, we’ll see what happens over the weekend though!

How do you like the curtains? They look cool but I opted for insulated thermal mats to cover the windows. I cant help but think I could of had darkness for less money but hey maybe warmer in winter and cooler in summer?

To be honest @thegrinch, price wise they seem to be very similar, there’s just a bit of work to be done with the curtains. Rails need bent and cut to shape, drilled in etc., they did keep it really dark which was nice and there was a bit of a temperature difference between the cab and the back, but not a massive difference. I’m sure when it’s gets a bit colder, it would worth having both though.

Getting on with more of the wheels, looking better than the fading paint job they had! Also picked up a decent set of caddy life bars recently and got them on, just waiting on more wee blanks to arrive for the holes left by the lovely people over at BG. Image

While going through the wheels its stood that a couple have definitely seen better days with quite a few dings here and there

I guess that means we’ll just have to get some alloys much to the mrs’ dismay!

Hi,

how did you insulate the roof? From the pictures it looks like both this silver stuff and white polyester? Glued or clamped into place? How thick?

Hi Johan! I used some sound deadening which is roughly 2mm, followed by the thermo liner which is about 10mm, these both have peel off bits on the back and then it just sticks up like a sticker. The white liner is about 50mm thick, and just stuck it on with some trim fix that came with the carpet.

Thanks! :)

Does the thermo liner acts as vapor barrier, or did you put something under (above) the T&G ribs?
