Removing wheelchair winch from caddy maxi life

Advise wanted please. Just bought a caddy maxi life WAV withe the intention of basic micro camper.
I've just removed the motorised winch and put insulation tape around the wires that went into it. The operating switch is still connected. When I switch it one way I hear a kind of relay switch click, when I switch the other way I hear what sounds like another motor coming from under the car (rear seat area) . Is this the solenoid? And where the heck has it been fitted.
