Plywood installation vs insulation

Anyone ever had any issues with drilling carpeted plywood into the walls of the caddy?
With the layers of sound deadening, insulation etc it’s making it difficult to get the screws (self tap metal) to secure as the tension on the plywood seems too great to hold a screw in?
Any advice would be sound.
TIA

It's usually not a problem, have you the correct fine thread screws to suit the thin metal panels?

Maybe using rivnuts might help, at least then you’ll have a good solid fixing.

As above. Fit Rivnuts and use cabinet bolts. Basically big headed Allen bolts.
