Speaker upgrade Focal vs Vibe dedicated or speakers with fitting kit

Post by PeakyPaul »

Hello all,

So the door lock has packed up on my 2016 Mk4.

As I'm taking off the door card I thought it a good time to upgrade the speakers, budget is tight so what would people recommend from the below or are there others that would be under £130?

Van hasn't got tweeters so I was thinking of a 2-way speaker for ease of fitting like the Focal kit below,

Or there is this Vibe kit (appreciate it will need a bit of extra wiring for the tweeters)

Or I could get the connects2 speaker fitting kit and fit any 6.5" speaker?

In which case does anyone have recommendations for a 6.5" 2 way speaker set under £100?

Thanks
Paul

I know a little outside your budget but I got THIS installed and it sounds amazing.

Tom is also a pleasure to deal with in terms of support.

When you say a little outside budget....you mean double

I'm sure they are great, but at well over £300 I'm out :(

Whatever you get get component speakers and put the tweeters in the dash. Biggest improvement you can make over coaxial speakers.

Ended up going with the Focal 2-way set as I was able to get them on a deal and the team at CEN where very helpful.

I'm sure there are lots of better speakers and packages out there but in terms of bang for buck I hope this is a worthy upgrade.

I'll post my thoughts on them once I have fitted them.

Honestly you can't really compare vibe to focal.. focal generally make some of the most efficient and clear speakers. Acoustic quality of everything will be miles ahead of anything Vibe.

That being said, Vibe markets more towards being higher SPL and "more wattage".. If its loudness and power youre after then i'd still reccomend Pioneer over Vibe.

If its clarity and efficiency you qant then go for Focal. I just did a pair of coaxial Focal165ac and bought adapters off amazon all for under 100.
