Hi all, i think i have posted in the correct area?
long story short i was driving on way to a job (gas engineer/plumber) yesterday and ended up with my 5 speed gear box going.
i use my van every day for work so quickly jumped on facebook looking for a new gearbox ended up finding a 2002 mk4 golf with an pd130 lump in it and a 6 speed gearbox cheap as shell has had it.
i have been searching on here for information on the conversion of a 6 speed box understand bits and bobs but has anyone done a step by step ? if so can i be pointed in the right direction.
also hearing off people who have done the conversion pros and cons
hoping to go see the golf this evening
van is a 2008 1.9 pd105 mapped to 130bhp
many thanks

I don't no if its any good to you but I changed my mk4 vw caddy 2.0tdi from 5apeed to 6speed at the start off the year its probably been my best mod to date the van drives so much smoother and well worth it with a remap

I'm interested in doing this as well - just picked up my 1.9 last night and it really needs an extra gear!

There’s a guide in the how to section, have a search for 6 speed conversion.
I did it you will need:
Clutch bleed valve.
DMF and clutch and pressure plate for a pd130
Shifter cable bracket ( I didn’t need to change my gear shift cable ends)
Pd130 drive shafts and put Caddy CV joints on them.
Gearbox mount from PD130
Pd130 starter motor
I swapped the reverse light plug over
Handy enough done. But the 6 speed box is far heavier to work with.
If you have cruise control chances are it won’t work in 6th gear but there a way around that also.
