Disabled Gears _ 2011 VOLKSWAGEN MK3 (2K) (GP) 2003 TO 2015 C20 LIFE TDI

Post by Ivra »

Hi all,

Just seen this VW caddy 2011 on sale and was interested in purchasing however noticed the van has a disabled gearbox or such? Does anyone know how much it will take to remove this and how quick it can be done. There's also a ramp at the the back but not too fussed about it but will need to remove it if connected by the controller.

Thanks

What do you mean by disabled gear box?

An automatic? Or hand controls on a manual gearbox etc or….

Believe its designed for disabled people and not the traditional automatic gearbox but would like to remove it if purchased.

Thanks

Is it that the DSG controls have been moved or did the adaption company do something to the actual gearbox?
It sounds like it would be a right headache to put back to standard if the latter.
Relocated DSG controls might be simple to reverse if the original wiring has just been extended and no irreversible modifications have been made. I guess you can only find that out after purchase.

You are going to have to find out more info.
Disabled is a massive catchment term.

It will have been adapted for the previous owner but it will still be a standard whatever underneath and will most likely need some things removing.

Only the seller or possibly the buyer will be able to see what has actually been done.

If you are not sure get it inspected by the AA or RAC (presuming UK based) or some other organisation.
