I’m going to service my 2018 1.4 tsi caddy and wondering if anyone recommends aftermarket filters or to stick with genuine vw??
Would be looking for oil & fuel filters, Oil, and spark plugs.
I see Mann make an oil filter that’s half the price. And Ryco make a fuel filter that’s less than half the price of a genuine vw filter!
Anyone recommendations for brands of oil?
And it seems Bosch iridium plugs are cheaper than new standard vw plugs (probably NGK)
Are these cheaper filters a good deal? Or should I just stick to the over priced VW genuine parts?
Thanks

Re: Service items
I might be wrong but I'm 99% sure VW doesn't produce any filters or spark plugs. They'll have someone make them for them. (Same for their oil)
Use a big brand like Bosch or Mann and replace them sooner rather than later. For oil I use Motul specific, but again, use a known brand like Castrol or Mobil and you'll be fine. Don't use supermarket oil and service the van often. I service mine every 10-12k km.

Re: Service items
I've always used Mann filters for servicing, don't know if its true or not but a couple of trusted mechanics have told me that the genuine VW filters are manufactured by Mann.

Re: Service items
I have heard this too, but wasn’t sure.
I’ve ordered the Mann filters and got 5L of Castrol 5-30.
Should be good to go when they arrive.
