Man - what a can of worms! Anything can be done if you have deep enough pockets. There will of course be all the usual problems of immobilisers, engine mounting etc I know of a geezer from when I was on clublupo who spent donkeys having his converted - perhaps more problems with engine bay....but still!

To be honest, if your looking for 200bhp why not get a 140 TDi Caddy - with a few tweeks this can easily get towards the magic 200bhp mark - with even evil torque

You pays yer money etc....

i see what u mean could easy run into thousands

ok so i 140 tdi caddy with a remap should see me good

i fancy a DSG do they do a 140 bhp DSG that would be nice and if so what is the top speed i need to cruz at about 90 mph but need a bit more if needs be, don't wont the engine to be screaming at 90 had the astravan with the 1.9 16v and it was a storming engine great van but could not get much in it so thats why i am looking at the caddys

a few questions if you don't mind lads

1= do they do a 140 bhp caddy
2= what is the top speed of a DSG caddy
3= can i upgrade the steering wheel and have paddle shift

Get an SDi with a knackered engine and transplant a 170 Diesel in, or just go for a Caddy Sportline comes with 140 BHP and a DSG if you spec it.

I imagine would be way cheaper than specing up a sportline to 17K or so....

SDI for 4K - can't see you spending more than 5 or 6K all in making it super cool and totally unique - question of whether you have the time to do it, though matey!

170 is just a 140 tdi 2.0 with a bigger turbo and the stupid dpf (can be removed)

you swap a few engines into the caddy, i.e if its in a mk5 golf then it should go!
150tdi 1.9 mk4 engine (remap to 200 hybrid to 270!!)
I petty sure the 2.0tsi from the mk5 would go in much better engine then the 1.8t

oh and welcome!

so lets get this right

i buy a SDI { high milage fooked engine ect}
drop a 2.0 tdi 170 bhp engine in
change a few bits
do a few mods to my new 2.0 tdi engine
and away i go flying machine for half the price

is that right or have i have i got my wires crossed

yeah pretty much!

looking at up to 240bhp + 340lbf! with a remap and exhaust + removing the dpf

check out http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=211142

Personally I would use a custom exhaust and maybe dpf bypass (you might have to with the caddy exhaust not being the same as the golf) to keep costs down
