Hi Simon, regarding your wing mirrors, are they now rigid due to the bonding,or will they still fold in, if a car passes close ,and catches them? Great looking maxi by the way.

They still fold slightly, but won't fold all the way in. The Golf mirror will only go so far before it fouls the Caddy base, so you can't fold them right in - and I can't see a way of making them fold in further. Will add some pics up later, once I've sanded back the last skim of filler on the mirror caps.

Made some progress on the mirrors. Thought I may as well add puddle lights before they go back on the van too...

And got the mirror caps in primer.

Still need more work before paint, but coming along. Wanted to get them on the van asap - so bought a spare pair of Golf mirror caps from Euro Car Parts for £20...which mean now fitted on the van :D

Looking good mate. I'm half way through doing mine.

Did you manage to keep them foldable?

And how did you overcome the little metal stopper on the base fowling the cover? Trim the cover or cut the metal off?

I went with removing the metal tab. Means they'll fold in slightly, but not all the way - suppose thats the downside to doing it this way rather than the proper Touran mirror conversion route, but for what its cost me, I'm happy with part folding mirrors :D

Sorry Chezzy, missed that post! Not sure if it's any different - just asked RAD to fit a skid plate, and that's what was fitted :)

On with the next mod...A3 vents...

Trimmed the Caddy vents, and glued the A3 vents in place as per the how to on here, but wasn't happy with how I'd done it. Couple of vents were off centre, and didn't sit flush either (knew they wouldn't, but just didn't like the look) Was going to sell them , but then thought I'd try something else..

Ordered up some 3mm plastic discs from http://www.plasticdiscs.co.uk (93mm external diameter, 80mm internal diameter) and hot glued to the Caddy vent ring. Filled the gaps with flexible filler, then sanded down. Wrapped in carbon vinyl, and the 80mm diameter is a perfect fit to sit the A3 vents in without glueing them, so managed to get everything back in the dash square and looking as it should.

Also bought some new valve caps for show season

And as I had spare carbon vinyl left over, finished the mirrors off too..
