Right really need to get back to work - just read this thread from start to finish and couldn't put it down. Really excited about seeing this running and seeing it in the flesh at a show when you have finished. I would leave the thread as is and not chop it up. Or if you do decide to do that - maybe have a shortened version with a link at the beginning, but I feel by doing this a lot of people would miss out on all the small details. Anyway, I found its been really well written and explains your thought process really well and why you did things the way you have. Brilliant build and a credit to you.

Tell me about it! It has gone to have the exhaust fabricated. Believe that takes a week. Then will be the last remaining jobs and I've been told worst case end of feb. Then it's off to see Doc about some clocks, and hopefully then I can start thinking about getting the interior under way.

My Caddy 'R' TSi (almost) air ride build

Post by dan@biali »

I need to stop quoting timeframes, it seems to jinx everything. Yep, originally quoted 6 weeks but will be more like 6 months.

I've now heard there's an issue with the exhaust and could be waiting 4 weeks for the backbox to be made as it requires special tooling. I'm hoping the exhaust can be designed and fabricated without the backbox and they can send it to the engine company once it's built. That way the engine company can do as much of their finishing up as possible and not delay us too much.

Haven't looked at narrowed axle yet. It's the stock one in there but might swap it to a narrower one to give me a little extra room under the arches. That's not an issue right now though.

My Caddy 'R' TSi (almost) air ride build

Post by dan@biali »

Been a while since an update. Not much has been done due to the exhaust manufacturer being a total douche. They've been messing us around for 6 weeks when it was supposed to take 2, and when asked why it had taken so long, they threw their toys out the pram and sent a snotty email saying the exhaust had been removed and to come and collect the van. The engine guys had to do some serious sucking up to get them to finish it. Needless to say, it's back at the engine place getting the final bits sorted. The annoying thing is, although the exhaust is "a work of art", the idiots forgot to put in a cat (even though it was in the plans from day 1) so the centre section is being removed and sent back to get that done. Will not be naming them as don't want to provide any publicity which is a shame as the technicians are obviously very good at what they do, but the sales/management team are a nightmare.
