Finally fitted the midline swcm and coded the cruise stalk in.... Magic!!!
I've eventually gotten around to investing in vcds .. Full version, not the Chinese rubbish... So if any west of Ireland members need it.....I'm a sharing kind of guy!!!

Got the TV tuner fitted too, it's a cheapo eBay unit hooked up to the existing Alpine unit ... It'll take the talk off all those asking " what are the little aerials for?"
( it's ex BG.... Ye know what I mean!!)

Great work!

Can you post up some more details on how you colour coded your bumpers..?

I'd appreciate a few pics and advice on how to de-texture them in preparation for paint.

Thanks

Yeh no problem.
Steps for the plastic bumpers were;
Remove and give them a bloody good clean with fairy liquid + dry.
Clean down with a silicone removing panel wipe.
Give them a good rub with red scotch pad.
Hit with a plastic primer (upol).
1 thin layer of normal primer (I used black for this so I could see it when sanding through the upper layers of paint).
Another quick scotch.
Then I went over the flat areas of the bumper with 3m 1k red stopper. You have to used this very sparingly and keep it to 1mm deep for best results. (You can swap this step out for a good 2k primer if you have access to clean compressed air and guns etc, the 2k goes on much thicker than 1k primer). Best to leave the stopper over night if poss if it's thick in places.
Sand stopper / 2k primer with 400 grade wet paper or 240 dry if it's a bit thick.
Make any repairs to the bumper with filler if required. Keep the filler very thin and it will be fine (2-3mm)
At this stage I used a good filler primer x 3 coats. I love upol stuff from halfords. (Not required if u used 2k primer).
No sanding yet - spray with a thin layer of satin / Matt black paint. This is your guide coat so make it really thin but cover all important bits.
Now sand until you have no black guide coat left use p800 wet and ull be golden.
If you sand through to red stopper or black just stop. You will need to hit these areas with more primer and another quick rub.
Finally I hit with a layer of non high build normal grey primer and gave it the once over with p800 without sanding through anywhere so it's all one colour for paint.

Then all u need to do is blag a mobile smart repair mate to come spray it or take them to a body shop if no such friend.
Everything was ordered from eBay other than halfords upol prime. Whole prep job cost me 40quid. Paint base cost me 30quid. Lacquer and labour came in at 8 coffees and a pack of fags lol.

Sorry no pics of any use but I'll post some up when I do my side trims.

Hope that helps.
