New rear coilover suspension set up

Post by torque777 »

So while at UD today I saw this suspension system on the floor on our only charged dubs stand, it's a fully bolt in system that is designed to run rear coilovers or air, and is sold in conjunction with front struts, they have partnered with Scale suspension, and their coilovers can first set the spring rate and then you adjust height with body so no matter what height it performs the same, air struts have camber top mounts, the rear coilovers are designed to be almost vertical, I spoke to Matt and he said the coilover set up would be around 2k Image

This is very interesting. And is something along the lines of what I am in the midst of designing for the rear of my caddy. I would be very interested in having the rear set up only though as I have already got my suspension on the front just how I like it.
Who can I talk to to get more info on this

The only problem I see with this set up is that the weight of the axel (un sprung weight ) will be increaced quite a lot.
I would have preferred weld on brackets for the axle to creep unsprung weight to a minimum.

I did give it a lift up to see, and it didn't feel too heavy, but I can see what you mean

I'm very interested. Can't quite work out what they are doing for sideways location on the coil over set up.
I presume the set up that is on the floor behind the axel is for air ride unless I'm not quite getting this

There is a location on plates around axle for coilovers, and a plate that goes above on chassis, the rail bolts between the chassis rails and fixes where the bump stops are, then you move arb to up there and rose joint rods come down to axle plates a whatts linkage connects to plates also stopping side to side movement

New rear coilover suspension set up

Post by KenTDI140 »

Ahh so the bit with the anti roll bar on it bolts above the axel.
That makes sense.
I recognised the watts linkage as I have that on my mk 2 rs2000

The shocks must be very short. I was going to fit turrets up inside by the wheel arches

Think this could be the next purchase, like the look of this.
Caddy 4 150 DSG Viper Green, AirLift Performance, Alltrack Body Kit, 19" SPF Rotiforms & 20" Vossen CVT, 5 seat conversion, full interior re-trim in Napa & Alcantara with green stitching and a sprinkling of Custom Car Audio.

I phoned mat today and he's going to send me some photos of the suspension system fitted to a van.
They aren't quite ready to give a fixed price yet but he should be able to let me know in the next day or so.
