Seeing a caddy this weekend

Post by Harrier »

Advice sought please boys & girls. I'm off to see a 2014 swb caddy this weekend. 50k odd mileage. 1.6 Diesel.
Anything especially to check for? Any advice would be helpful. I know bits about cars, I can change brakes, discs, I've done clutches on bikes, radiators on cars etc. But you lot know your caddy's and their good & bad bits.........impart to me your knowledge & experience please.

Ask if it's had the emissions fix done and if so if it got new injectors, cos it's gonna need em

Thanks mate. It's got a full VWSH so, won't take it for granted but, updates should have been done.

From what I've read on here and in other places, if it has had the emissions 'fix' done, I'd have it remapped mate.
There's lots of people had EGR, DPF and injector issues after its been done.
Good luck getting your van mate :D

I wouldn't get too hung up on the emissions fix. Better without but not that big a deal in my opinion , not since the issues many have attributed to it (including the EGR mine needed) are now covered by a warranty.
Pendle also informed me that a standard remap does not reverse the fix, they can reverse it, but don't assume that any old remap will do it.

Injectors with a part number ending B are prone to failure.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Saw it, drove it, bought it!
Picking it up Wednesday.

It's a Trendline so no air-con. Bit disappointed with no air-con, but will fit a couple of roof vents for the comfort of my boys in the back (my 2 Dalmatians).

Haven't picked it up yet, already trying to work out how and what leather seats fit. The back is carpet lined, a really professional job, unfortunately I need it to be ply lined as the van is for my dogs & mountain bike!

Am I right in reading this when you say If vw do the emission fix it will need new injectors?? As mine is still on vw’s list as having not had it.

No, not really, but they seem to be a problem once the fix is done and a lot of people on here have complained about them, but I also think the injectors are covered for two years after the fix anyway.
