Van hunting

Post by Chris46 »

So I'm on the market for a van to convert, but... if I were to buy a van (as opposed to a maxi life) and convert it, is there a specific classification of vehicle on the V5 I should be looking for in order to reduce insurance and tax etc?

Cheers in advance,

Chris

Thank you for the reply. That's perfect, I've been looking at the maxi so we've got the extra room

Any maxi? Or a maxi life?
Remember a van is restricted to 60 on dual carriageways where as a Life can do 70

Only if the van exceeds 2000kg.
I guess a maxi kitted out will exceed that as the kerb weight is 1500kg but a SWB will be fine I’d say.

Limits are based on gross weight, all Caddy2ks are over 2000kg gross weight.

I like the idea of fewer windows, that might seem backwards...

However, I'm open to all options should the right van come along.

There's a huge selection of ex BG vans out there, are they a good starting point or are they more hassle due to the limiter, extra locks etc etc...?
