Rear seat belt fitting
Hi all. Got my rear touran seats fitted in the back of my maxi today (excuse the mess)
The only thing I can’t quite figure out is the seatbelts. The bottom where the reel goes has anyone cut away the metal to mount it internal? I’ve seen Dan chambers video where he has done this. Or am I best mounting it externally with a spreader plate internal.
Then for the top mounting point I think is the bottom hole on the picture below? How do you get anything behind to fix to?
Also is there any trim from the caddy life to hide the seatbelt and reel ?
Thanks

@ryzar1
How did you get a spreader plate up behind that hole? Or what did you use instead?
Thanks.

Anyone got a picture of these covers fitted?
And does anyone have a picture of reel been fitted internal on the pillar.
Waiting for my spreader plates to come for the top mount then i should be all sorted

Thanks @petrev
Looks a lot better than I expected. Think I will probably go down that route rather than cut away at the van to mount internally .

@ainzley91
I’m not 100% but I think a lot of people bolt through wheel arch with a spreader plate, I’ve not looked at mine yet but there is supposed to be enough gap behind the arch liner.

Fitted
Bolt at the bottom.
Your pic shows mounting hole at bottom, horizontal T-slot fits the plate on the reel, four vertical slots are for the cover.

Re: Rear seat belt fitting
Mines currently Bolted through the wheel arch, but I’m really not a fan of how the belt hangs and reaching back to get it every time, plus it catches on the reel when pulling. I was hoping there was some pictures of it around the step area..

Re: Rear seat belt fitting
Has there been an alteration to the mounting bolt on this pic? The ones I've got look like it's bolted from the back. Can anyone shed some light on what to do so that my touran seatbelt cartridge can be mounted on the front of the C pillar rather than cutting like in some YouTube videos
Thanks

Re: Rear seat belt fitting
Hi,
Standard fitting is on the outside
There needs to be a "nut" added if not provided by VW.
I think an M10 steel Rivnut would work, though some might prefer a genuine seatbelt spreader plate with 7/16th UNF threaded nut !?
Mustn't block the T hole.

Re: Rear seat belt fitting
Hi if you mount the seat belt on the inside of the pillar or is best to mount on the outside as my I currently mounted the passenger one on the inside of the pillar what arse of a job but the belt seems to have a lot of slack and doesn't work correctly
With spreader plates is it best to mount it on the inside or weld it on the outside thanks
