Hi folks, I've picked up a 2009 Caddy Maxi 1.9 TDI, Air-conditioning system Climatic with semi-automatic control and no heated seats. It has a few issues to sort out. One of which is the heater, which doesn't. I paid the dealer to do a diagnostic on the engine (needs N75 valve, maybe more, just done that) and the heater (needs a new core, they say). While trying to get the nerve up to pull all the dash out to get at the core, I've found that someone else has been in there and the heater controls are reversed - it's exactly like the knob has been put in 180 degrees out. So I've got a couple of questions:
1) the knob doesn't seem to pull off (for sane values of pull, anyway) - can it even be put in barse-ackwards? (or is it electronics?)
2) various unrelated things happen at each of the 4 settings (AC comes on or goes off, fan speeds up at one setting without touching the fan control). The deflector motor is working fine, just 180 degrees out of phase with the knob position. Could this be stopping it engaging the "heat" valve? It's the end of Autumn here in NZ and using the aircon on full blow "cold" does clear the screen, but it's a miserable drive in the morning (using it as a handyman's van).
cheers all, Terry

Re: Reversed Heater Control???
Is it the right button thats reversed?
There is a vcds setting to calibrate the heater flap motor, so it learns where it should be.
With your electronic gremlins, I think I'd try a different panel, before I'd change the core, which has no moving parts btw

Thanks Tommyzoom - The panel itself seems fine, I was hoping to avoid getting a copy of VCDS until much later, looks like it's something I'm going to have to get asap. Did a 3 hour mission this evening, could barely move when I got home - and it's not even really cold yet!
