Re: Whistling Driver side mirror
Most of the time is is not the mirror but the door seals. As the hinges wear the door drops. And you get a whistle through the seal. It also lets water in during heavy rain.
If the whistle is there with the window up or down then yes it might be the mirror.

Re: Whistling Driver side mirror
If it is the mirror, you can stop it by applying some sealant along the horizontal join where the mirror swivels on the plastic (wind-facing) side of the mirror. It'll tear if you try to fold the mirror in, unless you grease one half so the sealant only sticks to the other half. Worked for me anyway. As did gaffer tape over the join!

Re: Whistling Driver side mirror
From posts on here it seems this mostly affects painted mirrors - and on my Maxi a spell of experimentation showed the noise was coming from the gap on the underside of the mirror.
It went away after I covered over the gap with a short length of insulation tape. Nice cheap fix.

Re: Whistling Driver side mirror
I managed to fix my whistling mirror today. Removed the black plastic trim that sits around the mirror (not rear of mirror housing) put a bead of clear silicone all way round tiny groove then refitted and secured overnight with tape to set... 70mph down road and no whistle whatsoever and can still fold in mirrors - hope helps/works for others...

Re: Whistling Driver side mirror
Do you mean the trim that clips around the mirror glass? The thin square ish bit?

Gallery is private so can't access it, what to do is edit your post, click the picture icon on the editor so it puts an IMG tag in, then paste that link in between the IMG tags and post again.

Re: Whistling Driver side mirror
Ok got it now, I did think mine whistled from the lower front horizontal gap where it swivels closed but yeah will try this (I'll put electrical tape on various bits until it shuts up and see what fixes it, including this area). Thanks for the pic.

Re: Whistling Driver side mirror
Hope it helps, been bugging me since bought van last year and read and tried numerous solutions from here with no luck. On way back from school run with window open decided to pull the offending piece off and no whistle so thought it could be air flow passing through the gap between rear housing and the front piece of trim... 5 min silicone and overnight taped up mirror and sorted....
