I used to have a Thule Spirt and can recommend it. Very well built, reasonably streamlined, quiet and deceptively spacious.

I recently sold mine (sorry @petrev).

The spirit looks more areodynamic mate. Cosmetically better too IMO.
Depends what you want to carry I suppose.

Thanks Swan Man and MFT,

That was about my thinking about these 2, and the Spirit was used and so a tad cheaper - But ...

Went to see them this morning and while this was confirmed, the one item that I most want to get into a box is my pop-up annex/tent.
At 84cm diameter it just wouldn't fit into the Spirit (slightly narrower) so I will have to go with the Force XT.

Ah well, at least it is smaller to store when not on the van :)

Good you got a solution mate. I considered one a while back, but the off van storage would’ve been a problem. They’re massive!!

Yes - So big !!

Strangely the only 2 Thule that will fit my tiny tent annex are the smallest, Force XT Small, and a now discontinued one - the Thule Motion XT Alpine, that is really long (and heavy as well) and costs quite a bit more if you can find it.
There is one other Thule that might fit the tent but costs ~£1400 and weighs a ton !?!

So cheaper little one it is ...

RoofBoxed.com have done me a great deal for an in person pickup
👍
Waiting on delivery to them now ...

Thanks for the idea Andy 👍
Nice pics of an Abarth 695 with a Force XT Small.

I've got a decent deal now and the XT Small is the only one that works for me so I've ordered one for pickup next week.
Luckily they are only 10 miles away from me so that's a result.

I think they are useful if you need more space to carry stuff for a holiday say.

Best not to leave on the roof all the time unless you need to !

You just need crossbars if you already have roof rails.
