Got an issue this morning.
After driving my Caddy 1.6 diesel, for about 20 mins I got the red steering wheel light and coil light resulting in the van going limp mode.. Stopped the car re started and this stopped the flashing coil light and wheel light removed itself. Car drives ok just now but does this give me an indication of pending doom???

Re: limp mode
if you can, read out the fault codes.

Re: limp mode
Thxs for you response but in the end the low pressure code split into to two issues - one was the sensor that sorted one code but there was another, this indicated a large yo yo of pressure and thought it would be the regulator. This changed and the code persisted so I am not trying to change the main fuel pump and at same time do the timing belt. Feel sure if this was in a dealership it would have written the van off. I do hope it corrects this issue. I suspected something was going adrift for months as first cold start up was getting lumppy but seemed to clear as the van was driven. Keep you guy's posted on the pump.

Re: limp mode
Update on this one - might need some help ...
Low fuel pressure codes on
changed the sensor and fuel filter
changed the fuel regulator still nothing
changed the main pump although only slight play in the shaft - fillings may have gone into system (suspected)
Can anyone steer me in what direction to go now?
No codes on injector faults and no leaks anywhere
Just the low pressure on fuel

Re: limp mode
maybe you could post the actual fault codes? and the year of manufacture?
Is it still in limp mode?
a standard test (VCDS or similar) is to plot the actual and expected air flow to the turbo and to check the turbo actuator (if a mechanical one: first watch it before and after starting to see if actuator in a different position, check the vacuum with a MyVac or so)

Re: limp mode
Thanks for your response Peter, I do have these to hand but getting near to a result.
Basically, and this might be useful to others.
Low pressure arose by the main high pressure pump's end of life and the filings from the shaft here entered the fuel system (rail) Some swarf entered an injector and by checking the levels on the return pipe test. Think it ia called a leak test it shows just one injector stuck open )probably by swarf) and loss of pressure to the back system. The fault code only showed low pressure in fuelling system. And verified on garage system locally. Now just waiting for a replacement injector but will report back once sorted.
