Caddy Maxi Life (tailgate) - wheelchair to non wheelchair rear bumper
Hi all,
I've just purchased a 64 plate Caddy Maxi Life (wheelchair conversion). In the process of stripping out, etc.
I'm looking to replace the ugly, loud cutaway rear bumper with an original. My question is - will I need a tailgate-specific bumper, or is a barn door bumper the same?
Thanks

Hi benissocoollike,
no difference between them regards tailgate or doors. But make sure you get one for a Maxi and not a SWB
because they are different.

You may want to contact Siriusautomotive vehicle conversions. They may have a heap of original rear bumpers and seats removed from Caddy life maxi models which they convert to make accessible vehicles.

Sirus cut them up and add them back in bits ! as do all the converters I can think of
But you may be lucky ...
AutoDoc had some pretty cheap ones a few months back, and there are usually a few on eBay of variable quality and price.
Genuine VW available from LLLParts.co.uk (Lithuania/Germany)

Exactly - so if you currently have a Caddy with a bumper which has already been cut up to make it wheelchair accessible, then perhaps there is a win-win swap to be had which will save Sirus work and save you work too - hence a call to Sirius might be worthwhile...

Thanks for the replies, all.
Managed to pick up a brand new rear bumper, colour matched, for £120. It arrived with a few small scratches, so I managed to get £30 back off the seller.
£90 for a colour matched rear bumper isn't bad

How easy or hard did you find the rear bumper conversion because I’m wanting to do it myself?

I’m looking to completely reverse the wav conversion. A lot of work but bought one with only 18k on the clock and it’s like new.

Is there someone who can do it or are you doing the conversion back yourself?

Doing it myself. Removed the ramps etc… fitted the standard rear bumper , bar etc… just need the floor to put back in. Will be a bit of work but it’s worth it since it’s low mileage

Definitely, I’m doing the same with the rear bumper. Where did you buy the rear bumper and was it easy to put on?

Hi, new to the group.
Also looking at converting a wheelchair accessible Caddy Maxi back to standard.
Could the floor pan be removed and a new panel bought and welded in?
Has anyone carried it out?
Also, can the front of a 2014 be upgraded to look like a 2018?

Hello, did anyone ever manage to do a full WAV conversion – and if so how did you solve the rear bumper/floorpan?
