When I had one of previous caddys tfsi engine converted, I bougthisht and had fitted a BWA catalyic downpipe to marry up with my BWA engine. Because I wanted it to pass the emissions which it did. In fact if memory serves me correctly, it sailed through.
I sourced this new from Ebay. Granted it was not a genuine vw one but it worked perfectly.
To also get rid of some of the exhaust note on top, I had a 14inch vibrant sound resonator fitted half way down the exhaust, and kept the original back box because I am not a fan of 'pokey' out exhaust tips. Tried to keep my caddy as stock looking as I could with subtle changes.
This gave the exhaust a very nice quite prius sound but with the pace of a 200hp van.
