electric windows issue head scratcher !!

this one is a little complicated I have mk3 facelift but has been mk4 front lifted with doors
has mk4 window motors lock and modules
loom is made from half mk3 and lock section of mk4
I've retained the mk3 cards so door card loom
this was working for 3 months then the windows started playing up had to press switch multiple times then stopped working all together

changed drivers switch no joy
changed window motor for same part number and windows worked with it all apart both
now doesn't work again

this where I'm stumped I can lower the windows using vcds output test both sides so fuse and wiring to doors is OK

I then test the switch on vcds and registers that open close on both sides and passenger door but does not move the motor I was gonna strip the loom as there could be a break but it registers that the switch is telling the modules

any ideas ??

Have you done a full scan to see if any oddities in coding show up? Does sound weird, a right head scratcher.

The fact it works when taken apart would suggest a loom wire or connector issue once assembled. But maybe there's a configuration error somewhere which surfaces after locking it or ignition goes off again.

A scan might throw up a configuration mismatch?

Might be worthy to check the earth connection to the door.
I had similar issues with my Passat and the cause was an earth wire that was almost cut through

The connection/plug at the door puller to the door can be problematic, but of a pinch point that’s flexed every time you open/close the door. I’d open the door, remove the door card and unplug the loom from the door puller and check for a broken wire or 2 at or very near the plug.

Same goes for the plug from the door switch as it plugs into the door module
