Thanks for explaining, I was wondering this myself. Personally I think it looks way better when only functioning as a brake light like on my retrofit. Would it then work to do the opposite and kill the tail light function on a 2016 model Caddy no?maxx007at wrote:It's not a dual filament, that's correct.
With VCDS and the OBD2 cable you can code it in address 09
It's called something like: Backup function brake light as taillight
You can set it to a certain percentage below 40 percent, otherwise the difference is to low between tail and stoplight

But why would you do that?

Re: The NEW retrofit thread
Looks better IMO, I have it like that with retrofitted lights. My buddy has a 2016 with the lights as original and said he wants it like mine, and that particular light keeps burning out, he replaced them twice already, one on each side. Could it have to do with it functioning as both in his car? Mine never burned out.maxx007at wrote:I think this is possible yes.

Same for me, but I can't acces the desired forums for the diagram.. I need to post more, but I haven't had any topics that I found usefull to reply on, I'm just reading stuff and learning for what I can do... I have introduced myself, but I don't want to post useless stuff just to get my postcount up (I think I have no choice)

Strange you say that, you went on to post a pointless post one minute after that one.
May go find my build thread and tell me my van looks good, it's always nice to receive positive feedback.

Re: The NEW retrofit thread
I don't think you can get the looms without the mirror base as they are usually built in. I definitely never seen the looms listed for sale seperate.

Re: The NEW retrofit thread
Hi, I know its probs an old thread but could you tell me which wires you swapped, im having the same issues with the mirrors going in the opposite directions.the long one wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2016 4:11 pm Yes I did fit the folding mirrors at long last I now have two mirrors the same size . I had to change the pin layout on the door module (now gen 3), door card loom (2010 on) and new mirrors (new caddy 4 small) . For some reason the mirrors worked backwards so that could have been down to module orgin (no idea off what)
Thanks

Re: The NEW retrofit thread
I had this myself with my folding mirrors. I cant remember which pins I swapped. All I did was trace the wires for the motor that folds the mirrors, back to the plug and swapped them over.
I think there are 3 thinner wires that control the mirror, 2 thicker wires for the heating element (think they are brown and white) and the remaining 2 thicker wires are for the motor.
when I first activated the fold, the motor changes its position relative to the mirror and there was an audible click. They then functioned fine after that.

Re: The NEW retrofit thread
Thanks for reply, yes theres three wires purple, grey and grey with purple trace. On my t5 it was a question of swapping the grey and the purple.
Anyhow, ive just been swapping them about and ive cracked it. I forgot to mark down which pins tho.
Only thing i need to get done now is flash the modules so theyll fold on remote. Also my drivers module is from a scirocco and its looking for a convertible roof module/sensor for some reason so i might need to swap the module to a one from a octavia or similar as my windows wont work on one touch anymore.
